Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get to your tour?
Husky Homestead buses pick up guests at Denali area hotels located between miles 229 and 239 of the Parks Highway. All guests arrive at Husky Homestead in our buses, regardless of whether they have private transportation during their stay in Denali. Our buses are very clearly labeled “Husky Homestead” and most of them are very colorful with our logo and/or have pictures of our huskies on the sides.
What should I wear?
We suggest the following:
- A coat/jacket – temperatures can change quickly, so having an extra layer may be advantageous.
- Closed toed footwear – our grounds are a mix of gravel and sawdust. High heels are not recommended.
Our tour is not governed by weather, so we will not cancel. The first part of our presentation is outside, and we have seating benches under a covered awning that protects guests from the weather. The second half of our presentation is inside our theater building with seating for everyone.
What should I bring?
You will want to bring your camera or cell phone for photos! Bug spray is a good idea, too, as mosquitoes are prevalent during the summer months. We have a small giftshop that accepts Visa, Mastercard, and cash if you’re looking to pick-up a souvenir after your tour.
I’m coming later in the season. Will it be dark during the evening tour?
Only in the latest part of our season will you see any darkness while on a visit with us. All portions of your tour will be daylight, but by the time we bus you back to your hotel it may be dark.
